UNESCO estimates that, by 2050, Portuguese will be spoken by approximately 335 million people. It is the official language of eight countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guine-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, and São Tome and Príncipe and is also widely spoken in Go, Macau, Andorra, Luxembourg, Paraguay, South Africa, and Namibia and the Portuguese islands of Madeira and Azores. Brazil is a 21st-century economic powerhouse and the 5th largest economy in the world. Many scientists consider Brazil to be the country with the most important biological diversity in the world.
